Eleven free checks, and which question each one answers

11

free tools, ten of which never ask for an email

The freeTools list in lib/free-tools.ts. Three run entirely in your browser and send nothing anywhere.

Three questions decide whether an assistant recommends you. Can it read your site, does it already name you when a buyer asks, and whose pages is it building the answer from instead. The free tools answer all three, in that order.

Ten of the eleven need no email at all, and three of those never send anything off your machine because they are generators rather than checkers. The one that asks for an email is the citation scan, which spends real model money per run.

Where it lives: /tools, and each tool has its own page.

What it does

02

Do they name you

The ChatGPT, Perplexity and Grok visibility checkers put one buying question to each engine and show you whether your brand appears, whether your domain is cited, and who got recommended instead. The engines disagree often enough that checking one is not checking the others: across 36 questions in August 2026, ChatGPT and Grok cited only 8 domains in common.

03

Whose pages are they using

The Citation Source Radar ranks the sites supplying your category's answers by share of citations, and tells you whether your domain shows up in that corpus anywhere.

How it works

  1. 01The llms.txt, schema, and robots.txt generators run in the browser. Nothing you type is transmitted.
  2. 02The checkers do not store what you check.
  3. 03The same list drives the hub page, the footer, and the sitemap, so a new tool appears in all three at once.
  4. 04Five of the checks are also callable by an agent rather than a person. The public MCP server exposes the visibility check, the readiness checks, the crawler check, the structured data validator and the sitemap check as tools, with setup for Claude Code, Cursor, Zed and ChatGPT.

What it does not do

  • A single check is a snapshot, and AI answers move week to week, differ per engine, and change with phrasing.
  • One run cannot tell a real improvement from noise. That is what the paid product is: the same checks on a schedule, with the corpus behind them.
  • Three tools we used to publish (a Reddit shadowban checker, a subreddit finder, a brand monitoring query builder) were retired in August 2026. They answered "where should I post on Reddit", which is not a question we sell an answer to any more. Why we stopped selling that answer is written up on the blog.

Frequently asked questions

Are the free tools crippled versions?

The readiness checker is not: it runs all eight checks. The visibility checkers run one question instead of a scheduled library, and the source radar runs three instead of your whole library.

Do you store what I check?

The checkers do not keep results. The citation scan records a telemetry row that a scan happened, because it costs money and we need to see abuse.

Which one should I run first?

The visibility checker, because it takes ten seconds and the answer usually decides whether the rest of this is urgent.
