Which questions name you, which ones stopped, and what the engine said instead

6% vs 0.7%

our own mention rate on branded prompts against unbranded ones, same week, same tool

CueScout measured on a Searchable trial, 15 to 19 August 2026. It is why the Prompts page leaves branded prompts out of every rate unless you ask for them.

A visibility score averages forty questions into one number. It cannot tell you that "best product analytics for a small SaaS" named you on ChatGPT for three weeks and then stopped, or that the answer which replaced you links a G2 category page you have no profile on. Fixes happen at that level, one question at a time, so that is how the Prompts page reads the sweeps back.

Every scheduled sweep already stores the engine's full answer, the pages it returned, the brands it named and where it ranked you. The list sorts that history into rates over the window you pick, and each prompt opens a page with every run since it was added.

Where it lives: Prompts, under Analytics in the dashboard. Each prompt opens its own history page.

What it does

01

Rates per prompt, over a window you choose

Mention rate, citation rate and average position for each prompt over the last 28 days, 12 weeks, 6 months or 12 months, each compared with the window before. A prompt with no answers in the window shows a dash instead of 0%, because "never asked" and "asked and left out" call for different fixes.

02

Branded prompts kept out of the totals

A question with your name in it gets your name back most of the time. Each prompt is filed as buying, comparison, informational or branded, and the headline rates count only the unbranded ones until you tick "Include branded". Any label can be overridden by hand.

03

A history page for every prompt

One cell per sweep per engine, coloured by what the engine did. Under it sits every run with the full answer next to the one before it, the pages the engine read and whether you could get onto each, and the rival brands it named instead.

How it works

  1. 01Each row carries a change badge per engine (gained, lost, held or new) against the sweep before. The Changes view compares any two sweep dates and lists every question whose verdict moved, with both answers.
  2. 02Only scheduled sweeps count. An "Ask now" check is saved to your citation log and left out of every rate, so poking at a question cannot move your numbers.
  3. 03If a sweep asked the same question twice in one day, the later answer is the one that counts.
  4. 04Intent comes from rules, with no model involved: your brand name in the question makes it branded; "vs", "alternative" or a tracked competitor makes it a comparison; "best", "top" or "which" makes it buying; everything else is informational.
  5. 05Prompt text cannot be edited. Answers are stored against the wording, so a reworded question starts as a new prompt and the old one is paused with its history kept.
  6. 06"Run now" starts a sweep straight away, at most once a day, and spends one of the runs your plan includes, the same allowance the scheduled sweeps use. A library larger than one sweep covers is asked stalest first, and the button says how many prompts this run will check.

What it does not do

  • We do not report how many people ask a prompt. There is no public source for assistant query volume, and a made-up number would be worse than a missing one.
  • We cannot see the searches an engine runs behind the scenes to build its answer, only the answer and the sources it returned.
  • Sentiment is a label (positive, neutral or negative) read from the answer. Two answers marked positive are not equally warm.
  • A prompt asked on four sweeps has four readings. The history page shows them run by run and draws no trend line through them.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the prompt library?

The library is the list of questions and where they came from. Prompt tracking is what the engines answered to each one over time. Both live on the Prompts page: the table is the tracking, and the paste box under it is the library.

Which engines are tracked?

ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, each selectable on its own in the configurator. Google AI Overviews are not checked.

Why does a prompt show a dash instead of 0%?

It had no answers in the window you picked. It was added recently, it is paused, or your library is larger than one sweep covers. 0% means the engines answered and did not name you.

Can I export it?

Yes. The table downloads as a CSV with your filters applied, one row per prompt.
