GEO audit
A GEO audit that shows the evidence for every check
A GEO audit checks whether AI engines can crawl, read and quote your site. CueScout's runs eight checks on the site, from AI crawler access in robots.txt to llms.txt, Organization schema and text that loads without JavaScript, plus five on each article. Every verdict shows what we fetched and a fix you can send to your To-dos.

What the GEO audit checks
Site checks
Can an engine reach and read you
Run on your homepage and the pages an assistant looks for. Free fixes: the llms.txt generator, the schema markup generator and the robots.txt generator.
- AI crawlers allowed in robots.txt
- llms.txt present and parseable
- Organization schema with sameAs
- FAQ schema
- Title, meta and canonical
- Text readable without JavaScript
- About page and pricing page
Evidence
Every verdict shows what we found
Open a failing check and you get the reason it matters, the fix, and the exact markup or rule we fetched. Add to To-do sends it to the queue with all of that attached.

Page checks
Is each article easy to quote
Five checks per article: something an engine can lift word for word, Article schema with a real author and dates, a recent date, an answer before the first subheading, and at least one internal link pointing at it.
How it works
Included on every plan. The eight site checks are also free, with no signup, in the AI Readiness Checker.
Compare plansFetch what the engines fetch
robots.txt, llms.txt, your homepage and key pages, as a crawler would get them, before any JavaScript runs. The AI crawler checker runs the robots.txt part on its own, and the structured data validator checks the schema you already publish.
Run deterministic checks
No model decides anything here. Each check is a rule over the bytes we fetched, so the same site gives the same verdict every time.
Keep the evidence
Every stored verdict carries the lines it was based on, so you can see exactly why something failed.
Re-check after you fix it
Mark a To-do done and supported checks can be run again on the same page to confirm the fix landed.

A GEO audit against an SEO audit
| Aspect | SEO audit | GEO audit |
|---|---|---|
| Asks | Can Google rank this page? | Can an AI engine read and quote it? |
| Crawlers | Googlebot | GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended |
| Checks | Titles, links, speed, hundreds more | Crawler access, llms.txt, schema, answer-first text |
| Output | A health score | Verdicts with the fetched evidence and a fix |
What it doesn’t do
- Passing every check does not get you cited. It gets you readable, which is the precondition, not the goal.
- It is not a full SEO crawl. Title lengths, alt text and page speed are left to the SEO tools that already do them well.
- Organization sameAs needs real third-party profiles. No code change fixes it.
- Sites that block automated fetches return unknown rather than a verdict.

Questions
What is a GEO audit?
A check of whether generative engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI can crawl your site, understand what it is, and quote it. It covers crawler access, structured data and how your pages are written.
How is a GEO audit different from an SEO audit?
An SEO audit asks whether Google can rank a page. A GEO audit asks whether an AI engine can read and quote it, which brings in different crawlers, llms.txt, schema and whether the answer sits at the top of the page.
Should I block AI crawlers?
Training crawlers and answer-engine crawlers are different agents. Blocking GPTBot does not remove you from ChatGPT answers; blocking the retrieval agents does. Most sites that meant to opt out of training blocked the wrong one.
Does llms.txt actually do anything?
No engine has committed to reading it. It takes an hour and it is a plain markdown file, which is roughly the honest case for adding one.
Is there a free GEO audit?
Yes. The AI Readiness Checker runs the same eight site checks on any URL, with no signup and nothing stored.
