FAQ schema generator for FAQPage JSON-LD
Question-and-answer pairs in the format an answer engine can lift more or less verbatim.
Your FAQPage markup
- Add at least one question and answer.
<script type="application/ld+json">
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "FAQPage",
"mainEntity": [
{
"@type": "Question",
"name": "Your question?",
"acceptedAnswer": {
"@type": "Answer",
"text": "Your answer."
}
}
]
}
</script>Paste this into the <head> of the relevant page. Runs entirely in your browser; nothing you type here is sent anywhere.
How it works
Free, no signup. Built in your browser.
Add each question and its answer
Use the questions the page already answers, in the words a buyer would use. The answer in the markup should match the one on the page.
Copy the JSON-LD
The code updates as you type. Copy it, or download it as a file.
Paste it and validate
Put it in a script tag on the same page, publish, then run the live page through the schema markup validator to confirm it parses.

</script>What FAQ schema does in 2026
Less for Google’s results page than it used to. Since August 2023 Google has shown FAQ rich results only for well-known government and health sites, so for most pages the markup no longer adds the expanding questions under your listing.
It still does the job it was designed for: it marks which text on the page is a question and which is its answer, so a crawler does not have to infer it from your layout. No AI engine has said how much it weights that. It takes ten minutes to add, it is one of the things our AI readiness checker looks for, and a page whose answers are already written in short, quotable pairs is easier to quote with or without it.
Rules that keep it valid
- Every question and answer in the markup is visible on the page.
- One FAQPage block per page, holding all of its questions.
- Questions you answered yourself. User-submitted answers belong in QAPage.
- No advertising in the answers. Links in an answer are fine.
The full set of schema types, including the Organization block with sameAs links, is in the schema markup generator.

What is FAQ schema?
FAQPage structured data: a block of JSON-LD that lists the questions a page answers and the answer to each, in schema.org’s vocabulary. It tells a machine reading the page which text is a question and which is its answer, without having to guess from the layout.
Will FAQ schema get me FAQ rich results in Google?
Probably not any more. Since August 2023 Google shows FAQ rich results only for well-known government and health sites. The markup is still valid and still read; it just rarely changes how your listing looks.
Does FAQ schema help with AI answers?
No AI engine has documented that it weights FAQPage markup. What it does do is hand any reader a clean list of question and answer pairs, which is the shape an answer engine quotes. It is one of the eight checks in our AI readiness checker for that reason, and it is cheap to add.
Where do I put the code?
In a script tag of type application/ld+json on the same page as the questions, in the head or the body. Most CMSs have a field for custom code per page; on WordPress an SEO plugin usually does. The questions and answers in the markup must also be visible on the page.
Can a page have more than one FAQPage block?
It should have one. Put every question on the page into the same FAQPage, rather than one block per section.
What is the difference between FAQPage and QAPage?
FAQPage is for questions you wrote and answered yourself. QAPage is for one question that users answer, like a forum thread. If visitors can submit answers, use QAPage.
