Alternatives
A Frase alternative for teams that already have writers
Frase Starter is $49/mo, or $39/mo billed yearly. It now includes AI Visibility: 50 prompts checked daily on ChatGPT and Google AI, next to 10 articles a month, 50 audit pages and Content Guard. CueScout Starter is $49/mo for 20 prompts checked daily on ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews, and Growth is $189/mo for 100 on five surfaces. CueScout writes nothing. We read Frase’s pricing page on 13 October 2026.
Frase started as a content brief and writing tool, and its pricing page now calls it “the content operating system for AI search”. Research, a drafting agent, publishing to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity or Wix, and an agent that can publish on its own if you switch that on. AI Visibility is one module inside that loop, and the page is plain about its limits: it “monitors AI engines and alerts you, and it never touches your content.” Fixing things is the writer’s job.
So the real question is who writes. If you want one subscription that spots the gap and drafts the page, Frase is built for it and tracks more prompts per dollar than we do. If your team already writes and wants to know which pages each answer leaned on and what to do about every one of them, that is what CueScout’s To-dos are for.

Verdict
Who Frase suits, and who it doesn’t
Frase suits a small content team that wants one tool for the whole loop: find what is missing, draft the page, publish it, then watch it for decay in Google. At $49 for 50 daily prompts plus 10 articles, the entry plan is generous if ChatGPT and Google are where your buyers ask.
It fits less well when the fix is somewhere a writer can’t reach. An AI answer about your category is often built from a roundup, a review site or a forum thread you are missing from, and the work there is a pitch or a listing. Frase’s cited-pages view centres on your own URLs, so those third-party pages show up as domains in the industry benchmark rather than as tasks.
Buy Frase if
- You want the tracker and the writer on one invoice
- Nobody on the team has time to draft what a gap calls for
- ChatGPT and Google cover the engines your buyers use
Look elsewhere if
- Perplexity matters and $129 a month is too much to get it
- You don’t want generated articles going out under your name
- You want every cited page, yours or not, sorted into work

Where CueScout is the wrong choice
- If you want the article drafted for you, CueScout is the wrong tool. Frase researches, writes and publishes; CueScout stops at the brief and leaves the writing, and the posting, to your team.
- Frase Starter tracks 50 prompts for $49 a month. CueScout Starter tracks 20 for $49. On prompt count alone Frase gives you more.
- Frase Scale includes Claude and Gemini in the plan. On CueScout, Claude is an add-on ($19/mo on Starter) and Gemini needs Growth.
What a To-do carries that an alert does not
On CueScout a gap ends in a task with its evidence. Citation tracking keeps every URL an answer cited and gives each one a verdict: improve your own page, answer the question on your site, get listed on a roundup, or leave it to whoever owns it. The ones worth doing become To-dos with the steps, the cited page and the date the evidence was seen, and the same questions are asked again after you ship. Who writes the page, and in which tool, is up to you. Frase would do it fine.
If tracking is all you are comparing
Start with engines. Visibility tracking on CueScout Starter covers ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews and keeps the full answer, its sentiment and the pages it read. On Frase, Perplexity arrives at Professional and Claude and Gemini at Scale. Frase’s page also says “Google AI” without naming which Google surface, so if AI Mode matters to you, ask them before you buy.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Frase cost?
Starter is $49, Professional $129 and Scale $299 a month, or $39, $103 and $239 billed yearly. Enterprise is custom. Extra seats are $29/mo on Professional and Scale. Read from frase.io/pricing on 13 October 2026.
Which AI engines does Frase track?
Starter tracks ChatGPT and Google AI. Professional adds Perplexity, Scale adds Claude and Gemini, and Enterprise lists all named engines. The pricing page does not say whether Google AI means AI Overviews, AI Mode or both.
Does Frase publish content on its own?
It can. On every plan the agent drafts and auto-publishes when you switch that on; Content Guard waits for your approval unless you opt in. CueScout does not publish anything, anywhere.
How long does Frase keep AI Visibility history?
Its plan table says AI Visibility keeps its own history, from 30 days on Starter. General reporting history is 3 months on Professional, 12 on Scale and 24 on Enterprise.
Can I use Frase and CueScout together?
Yes, though you would be paying for prompt tracking twice. The overlap stops there: CueScout says which page or listing to work on and why, and Frase can draft the page.
